CO2 Utilization with Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) and Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA)

As fossil fuels are being depleted and CO2 emission from conventional process is substantial, demand for alternative technology to replace fossil fuel and utilize CO2 to reach carbon neutral is getting more and more essential. As electrochemical process is the closest technology to commercialization, we focus on such technology to elucidate its feasibility and environmental impact compared to current fossil fuel process.

First, based on process simulator such as Aspen HYSYS, processes are being simulated for comparative analysis. We first focused on ethylene oxide (EO) as a final product on our process as it is a key product from ethylene and takes a large portion in current market share. Second, all the combinatorial routes to synthesize EO is simulated for further analysis. Finally, TEA-LCA is now on progress.
